Switching to MTN, does not mean that you will have to change your existing number as well. You can just «transfer« it!
Transferring your line to MTN requires a very simple and easy procedure which starts and ends with a single visit to an MTN Store! Just visit any MTN Store or a selected associate’s shop, sign the MTN PayMonthly or Up2U plan of your choice and fill the Number Portability Application Form. MTN will handle all the rest.
How much does it cost and how long will it take for the transfer to be completed?
The Number Portability procedure is FREE of charge. The procedure requires 4 business days from the day the MTN Number Portability Department will receive the application. During this period you will be able to use your mobile phone as usual. When the procedure is completed you will be notified via SMS on the exact date and time of number portability.
What shall I bring with me?
- If you are a European Union citizen you will need:
- Your ID card.
- The most recent telephony bill of the line you wish to transfer.
- If you are not a European Union citizen you will need:
- Your Passport.
- The most recent telephony bill of the line you wish to transfer.
- If you represent a legal entity you will need:
- Company Registration Certificate issued by the Registrar of Companies.
- Certificate of shareholders and directors.
- Authorization certificate of the person signing the application, if the said person is not included in the certificate of directors and requires authorization to sign documents on behalf of the legal entity.
- ID card of the authorized person.
- The most recent telephony bill of the line you wish to transfer.

*If you wish to cancel the Number Portability procedure, you will have to do so within 2 working days of filling your application form. If the application is cancelled after the two working days from the submission date, a cancellation fee of €17 (inc.VAT) will apply.
